Our Review

Introduction

In this review we'll be looking at the Jura E6, a bean-to-cup coffee machine that marries sophistication with simplicity. Known for its advanced "Pulse Extraction Process" (P.E.P.), a process Jura has coined that phrase for, the Jura E6 excels in delivering espresso with great aroma and depth.

Its user-friendly TFT display and integrated maintenance programmes make it a standout choice for coffee lovers seeking both quality and convenience. In terms of price point, the Jura E6 sits at the lower end in the Jura line of coffee machines, but, as with all Jura machines, it's on the higher end for at-home coffee.

In this review, we'll delve into the details of the Jura E6, uncovering how it brings barista-level coffee into the comfort of your home. Let's get started.

Features

The Jura E6 distinguishes itself in the premium coffee machine market with a range of features geared towards quality and convenience. Among its standout attributes is the advanced Pulse Extraction Process (P.E.P.®), a hallmark of Jura's innovation. This technology dramatically optimises the extraction time for short specialties like espresso, ensuring a rich, full-bodied taste and a depth of aroma that connoisseurs seek. You'll find this tech in most of Jura's coffee machines, especially newer models.

Digital Display

Equally noteworthy is the user-friendly interface. The E6 features a clear, colour TFT display complemented by straightforward buttons. This design makes selecting and customising your coffee preferences a breeze, a boon for both coffee machine novices and seasoned aficionados.

Maintenance

Maintenance is often a concern with sophisticated coffee machines, but not so with the E6. It boasts integrated maintenance programs, including built-in cleaning, rinsing, and descaling functions. These features are not just convenient; they're critical for maintaining the machine’s longevity and ensuring that each cup of coffee it produces remains of the highest quality.

Grinder

The E6’s Aroma G3 grinder is another key feature. Faster and quieter than its predecessors, this grinder provides a consistently fine grind, enhancing the overall flavour profile of the coffee. For milk-based coffee lovers, the machine’s fine foam frother delivers top-quality milk foam, perfect for crafting cappuccinos and lattes with a professional touch.

Furthermore, the E6 allows for a high degree of customisation. You can adjust the coffee strength and the amount of water per cup, giving you the ability to fine-tune each drink to your liking. And with the added benefit of an energy-saving mode, the E6 also addresses efficiency, reducing electricity consumption without compromising on coffee quality.

Design

The Jura E6 has a sleek, modern aesthetic, a design choice that is both timeless and functional. It comes in two choices, a black and platinum option, or all black. It depends on the retailer, but generally the all black version is a little more expensive, and in our opinion the platinum looks a little nicer.

Its compact footprint ensures it fits comfortably in most kitchen spaces without overwhelming the area. The machine's contours are smoothly finished, with a combination of matte and glossy surfaces that give it a contemporary look. It's a subtle-looking machine that will look the part in most kitchens.

In terms of size, Jura has struck a fine balance with the E6. It's large enough to house all the necessary technology and features, like the Aroma G3 grinder and water tank, yet it’s designed to be space-efficient. This careful consideration in design ensures it doesn’t dominate your kitchen space, a common concern with many high-end coffee machines.

The build quality is evident from the first touch. The materials used are robust and give a sense of durability, reassuring users that the E6 is built to last. Every component, from the water tank to the bean hopper, aligns with Jura’s high standards of quality.

Overall, the design of the Jura E6 is a blend of elegance, practicality, and sophistication. It's a machine that not only serves as a focal point in your kitchen but also promises longevity and ease of use, a testament to Jura’s expertise in combining form with function. We're big fans.

Summary

The Jura E6 stands out as a superbly crafted bean-to-cup coffee machine, marrying sophisticated technology with user-friendly features. Its hallmark Pulse Extraction Process (P.E.P.®) ensures each espresso is rich and flavourful, which is what owning a coffee machine is all about. The design of the E6 is both elegant and practical, available in black or a striking black and platinum, fitting seamlessly into any kitchen without overpowering the space.

The E6's interface, featuring a colour TFT display, makes choosing and customising coffee settings straightforward, appealing to both beginners and seasoned coffee enthusiasts alike. Maintenance is simple, thanks to its integrated cleaning programmes, ensuring the machine's longevity and consistent coffee quality. The Aroma G3 grinder further enhances the overall experience by providing a consistently fine grind.

Despite its compact size, the E6 is a powerhouse, perfectly balancing the need for advanced features with space efficiency. The build quality is solid, offering reassurance that this machine is built to last, aligning with Jura's high standards of quality.

One feature that is notably lacking from the Jura E6 that is available on other models such as the Jura E8 is the ability to use other coffee types other than beans. The Jura E8 allows you to also add ground coffee, as well as beans. For me, that's quite a useful feature, as I often find coffee when traveling that I'd like to buy but is only available ground, as well as sometimes receiving gifts that come ground. It's a potentially niche requirement though, so possibly something you may not be too interested in. Any machine that uses ground coffee also needs cleaning more frequently, due to the residue it leaves behind.

In conclusion, the Jura E6 is an excellent choice for those seeking a high-quality, durable, and user-friendly coffee machine. It promises not just a daily cup of coffee but a sophisticated brewing experience, making it a worthwhile investment for any coffee lover. The E6, with its blend of aesthetics, functionality, and innovation, is a standout model in the Jura range and comes highly recommended.
